History of the Country & Western Social Club

In the early 1980s, a dance team called Prairie Wind traveled to competitive and exhibition events.  They were always followed by friends who supported them but didn’t want to be part of the dance team itself.

In May 1983, the Prairie Wind team took a pleasure trip to Nashville.  During that trip, a team meeting was held and the members decided to change the character of their dance group in such a way as to include their followers.  As a result, the Prairie Wind disbanded and the idea of the Country and Western Social Club was born.  Founded in June, 1983, the CWSC is dedicated to the advancement of country and western dancing and the promotion of social interactions among its members.  A new dance team, The Silver Spurs was also formed.

The club has had its ups and downs and almost shut down at one time. But the strong determination of several of its charter members has seen it through the rough times and made it the strong, thriving club that we have today.   Since 1983, the club has had more than 2,500 members and we hope you will join us.
